ClassesFor the Stage Acting class is a fun way to improve public speaking skills, gain confidence and stretch creativity. We will play theatre games that help develop the young performer and improve improvisation skills, study enunciation, projection, and other helpful performance techniques as students prepare monologues and scenes. At the end of each month students will perform for family and friends. Musical Theater class is a fun way to develop vocal technique, develop confidence while learning songs and choreography from various musicals. This class will rehearse and perform scenes from various musicals and study the history and style of different musical theater genres. Vocal Training class teaches and develops students to use their voices correctly, to use proper breathing and to have confidence while singing in front of others. This class is available by private lesson only. Tiny Dancers Mini Combo and Tiny Tot Combo are age specific 60 minute classes that introduce both ballet and tap basics. These classes give the children a fantastic base and exposure to two different types of dance. The instructor works on listening skills, motor skills, praise and rhythm. Tiny Hop is popular class. It is age specific class that introduces hip-hop basics. The instructor creates a fun learning environment while the students learn rhythm, motor skills and freezes. Dance Classes Hip-Hop dance brings together the culture of street dancing and the technical training of dance. Hip-hop dancing is evolving in many different directions today, heavily influenced by the evolution of hip-hop music and its popularity in videos. This is a fun and energetic class and offered to all levels and ages! Street Hip Hop technique has a unique way of manipulating the body into different shapes using techniques of popping, locking, breaking, freezing and more creating an illusion of dislocated joints. The emphasis of this technique is developing a freestyle and improvisation while pushing boundaries, defying gravity and the human body limits. Street Hip Hop is a great compliment to any Hip Hop class. Popping and Locking A Hip Hop Dance Class fusing classic party dance moves, popping & locking drills, basic breaking skills like freezes and more. Combine all of that with a touch of new school Hip Hop energy and your poppin’ and lockin’! This class is a great compliment to any Hip Hop class. Ballet is the foundation for any style of dance. It is both a discipline and an art form. It requires both strength and patience because of its difficult technical elements. During Ballet class, the student will learn basic positions of the feet and arms, proper alignment, ballet vocabulary, barrè exercises and center work. Ballet class will break down the steps and provide students with exercises that build strength, increase flexibility and provide a foundation that can be applied to all dance styles. Jazz dance is an upbeat, energetic style of dance. In Jazz class the student learns movement that is in pace with today but rooted in the traditions of yesterday. Jazz class will expose the student to various jazz styles. Class will focus on teaching basic body isolations of the head, shoulders, ribcage, feet and arms and will layer jazz style over the traditional technique of ballet. Students will master basic jazz steps including kick ball change, step ball change and jazz runs. Emphasis is placed on developing rhythmic awareness individual expression and the use of the body as rhythmic percussive instrument. While no previous experience is necessary, students are encouraged to take a Ballet class. Tap dance is an exciting rhythmic style of dance and offers a variety of style and technique. A style of dance using precise rhythmical patterns of foot movement and audible foot tapping.The classes stress the basics of tap and build into combinations which are great to watch and delightful to hear. Lyrical dance is a modern dance form which fuses modern dance, jazz, and ballet. Lyrical dance is often referred to as contemporary dance. It requires excellent technique and understanding of terminology in order to perform, as the moves are often difficult and precise. Moreover, the dancer must be well aware of facial expressions, essentially acting, to properly perform a lyrical dance piece. This class is a great compliment to any Ballet Class. Technique Classes Stretch and Extension is a class that includes both floor and standing stretches. Expand your movement range while gaining confidence, balance and improved body alignment. Stretch and Extension is a unique class for students, professional dancers and anyone who wishes to strengthen their core and increase their flexibility. Introduction to Turns and Leaps will increase your movement vocabulary and proficiency with all types of turns and leaps. This class will help take the mystery out of performing good turns and leaps. Emphasis will be placed on cleanly executing single and multiple turns. Beginning with a warm-up that incorporates skills needed for good turns and leaps, class will progress to exercises across the floor and center combinations that emphasize good technique and form. This class is the perfect compliment to the study of ballet, jazz or hip-hop. Turns & Leaps, Intermediate/Advanced Company Classes Company classes are by audition only. Company is a performance-based class/team and these dancers go out into the community and perform and compete at both a regional and national level.
